Evaluation

For each evaluation, it is important that students know how they will be evaluated and how and when they will get feedback.

Alignment

All graded evaluations align with and assess the learning outcomes for the course.

Instructions

Instructions on all evaluations and activities are clear and complete enough for students to understand what is to be completed and how it is to be submitted.

Essential Information

  • The following information is provided in advance of the evaluation:
    • How learners will be evaluated. This can be given as a rubric, checklist or clear assessment criteria.
    • How and when the facilitator will provide feedback
    • If the evaluation is graded or non-graded

  • A standardized description (available to students under content) is used for all quizzes and includes:
    • Proctored or not (can be included in the test title)
    • Open or closed book
    • Computer or instructor marked
    • Number of questions
    • Time limit – this is the actual time it takes to complete the test
    • Content that will be covered on the test
    • What to bring to the test

  • A standardized header (prints on test and available to proctor) is used for all proctored quizzes and includes:
    • Open or closed book
    • Computer or instructor marked
    • Number of questions
    • Time limit – this is the actual time it takes to complete the test
    • What the student is allowed to have when writing the test
    • Instructions for the proctor on what to do with the test once completed
