ePortfolio Mobile Application

Document learning both inside and outside the classroom using the iOS mobile application for ePortfolio. The application allows you to complete all of the following actions using a mobile device:

  • Add photo, audio, and link artifacts
  • Add and tag reflections
  • Share items with peers, mentors and instructors
  • Comment on shared items and feedback provided to you
  • View shared or existing items in your portfolio
  • Receive notification of new activities

Accessing ePortfolio Mobile Application

To use the application, you must first download the application in the Apple App Store. When you have the application on your mobile device, you can then log in using credentials from either your institution or myDesire2Learn.

Download the application

To gain access to the iOS mobile application for ePortfolio, enter to the App Store and search “Desire2Learn ePortfolio”.

Logging into ePortfolio Mobile Application

You are able to log into ePortfolio Mobile Application using your credentials for either ePortfolio at your institution or your myDesire2Learn account.

Log in using an institution account

  1. Navigate to your institution’s ePortfolio website in a browser.
  2. Log into your account.
  3. Copy the URL in the address bar.
  4. Open ePortfolio Mobile Application and tap Get Started.
  5. Paste your institution’s URL into the Enter the URL of your institution’s Learning Environment field.
  6. Tap Connect.
  7. Enter your Username and Password.
  8. Tap Log in.

Note If your institution has a customized log in page, errors may occur when users are trying to log in. Contact Desire2Learn Support to resolve these issues.

Log in using a myDesire2Learn account

  1. Tap Get Started on the homepage of ePortfolio Mobile Application.
  2. Enter https://mydesire2learn.com [2] into the Enter the URL of your institution’s Learning Environment field.
  3. Tap Connect.
  4. Enter your Username and Password.
  5. Tap Log in.

Adding artifacts using ePortfolio Mobile Application

You can add four types of artifacts using ePortfolio Mobile Application: images, audio recordings, reflections, and links.

Adding and tagging content to your ePortfolio requires the appropriate ePortfolio and tag management role permissions.

Add an image using the camera on your mobile device

  1. Tap Image on the My Items screen.
  2. Tap Take Photo and capture a photo using your mobile device.
  3. Tap Use Photo.
  4. Enter the following fields:
    • Title
    • Description (optional)
    • Comma separated tags (optional)
  5. Tap Save

Add an existing image on your mobile device

  1. Tap Image on the My Items screen.
  2. Tap Choose Photo and select the image you want to add to your ePortfolio.
  3. Enter the following fields:
    • Title
    • Description (optional)
    • Comma separated tags (optional)
  4. Tap Save

Add an audio file recorded on your mobile device

  1. Tap Record on the My Items screen.
  2. Tap Record to start and stop recording your audio file.
  3. Tap Publish Artifact.
  4. Enter the following fields:
    • Title
    • Description (optional)
    • Comma separated tags (optional)
  5. Tap Save

Add a reflection

  1. Tap Reflection on the My Items screen.
  2. Enter the following fields:
    • Title
    • Reflection
    • Comma separated tags
  3. Tap Save

Add a linked web address

  1. Tap Link on the My Items screen.
  2. Enter the following fields:
    • Title
    • Link
    • Description (optional)
    • Comma separated tags (optional)
  3. Tap Save

Sharing items using ePorfolio Mobile Application

Share items with others

  1. Tap the item you want to share from the My Items tab.
  2. Tap Share.
  3. Tap Add Shares.
  4. Enter the names of your users in the search bar and tap the search icon.
  5. Tap the name of the user you want to share your item with.
  6. Set the sharing permissions and tap Share.

Sharing permissions

You can set the following sharing permissions when you share your items:

  • See Comments
  • Add comments
  • View Assessments
  • Add Assessments
  • Edit

Note Who you can share with is configured through ePortfolio role permissions.

Logging out of ePortfolio Mobile Application

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Tap Logout of ePortfolio.
